Valentines Sorrow

In the wee hours of the morning, she stares at the clock as the seconds tick by. Her breath was deep as each breath of air she took, her heart aches bit by bit. By now, it was really painful. Really, really painful.

For 5 years, every time around this time, she would be happily chatting away. Whether it was he who called or she, herself who called, she cannot remember. But, she knew that the wee hours of this fated day, she would never be alone. She would hear the comfort of his voice and her heart would lighten up as her spirit look forward to this day every year.

This year, it was somehow different.

As it was a different person whom she now gives her heart and soul to, she wonders what would happen. He will be the last before she sworn to never believe in love again, so what would happen?

On the 13th, she called as her heart yearns for him and his voice but somehow, no one picked up..
and no one called back.

And now, it is the 14th.

For awhile, she wonder whether he is alright since he said he was going to be alone yesterday and today. But then, he said he would call her back yesterday. So, does that mean she must sit and wait for him to call? Or must she make the first move again?

It is really depressing.
Always making the first move or the first call when they are far apart.

She gets it.
That he was not able to spend time with anyone else when she was around, but must she always feel so alone when they are in 2 different places?

She knows absence makes the heart grow fonder.
But, does suffering in silence comes together in the package as well?
Many times she held back from calling him because of this, and boy, was she glad.
Because he rarely even called at all.
He probably might be busy and this holding back actions saves a lot of her pride alright.

To keep herself from drifting towards the sea of loneliness, she start to occupy herself.
And by that, her energy level drains until she could take it no more.
She slept during dinner time, being afraid of the fact that she would have no energy to pick up his call after dinner.

The first few days, he called.
She was happy.
But after she started calling awhile, he did not call first again.
Frowning, she would just look up at the ceiling and wonder why is she here in the first place.

There were a lot of troubles and obstacles.
A lot of things she do not like.
A lot that caused her pain.
And, a lot that caused him trouble.

But still, what is he taking so long to call her for?

As she looks up at the clock, she sighs.

She then picks up the phone again.
